Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis in Greenpoint, Brooklyn

alan office 1

In my psychotherapy practice, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment for individuals to explore painful and troubling feelings, identify goals, and develop strategies for coping with difficult emotions and circumstances. I believe that the awareness and insight that can be developed through therapy allows people to be better connected to themselves, more engaged in their relationships, and more present in the world around them. I take an active role in therapy sessions, and work with my clients in ways that challenge them to achieve their personal goals.

I have worked with individuals and couples struggling with addiction, anxiety, depression, and stress. In addition, I help people with difficult childhood and family experiences including trauma, domestic violence, relationship issues, and transitions who are searching for emotional connection with others as well as a strong sense of self.

My therapeutic style is supportive and interactive; working collaboratively, I tailor the treatment to each unique individual. My approach is informed by my training in psychoanalysis and cognitive behavioral theories (CBT).
